Thonga Beach Lodge
is located in the Elephant Coast
area of Natal Northeast
in South Africa
It is a stylish little place in a lovely setting amongst the sub-tropical dune forests back from a very remote beach on the Mabibi Peninsular. Circular thatched structures contain pleasant dining, bar and lounge areas, with paths leading on to a spa facility, swimming pool area and deck above the beach. Guest accommodation is in a total of twelve lovely rooms some with ocean views and two of which are larger family units.
Activities are centred on beach and forest walks, turtle nesting during Nov/Feb, snorkelling, scuba diving, ocean boat trips, kayaking on the lake and visits to local villages.
The main potential downsides at Thonga Beach Lodge are that the beach can be exposed to both winds and tides. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Dec/Apr. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on the various activities. The lodge can be quite difficult to build into trips, access from Cape Town and Kruger can be arduous and expensive.SeasonsPrices
