Travessia Beach Lodge
is located in the Inhambane
area in the Southern
region of Mozambique
This rather pleasant facility is remotely located half an hour down a sandy track from the main road and set up on vegetated dunes above the ocean. Canvas-sided public areas contain modest lounge and dining areas, leading out to a small swimming pool.
Guest accommodation is in a total of four rooms, constructed of canvas under thatch and with outside bathrooms. One of these rooms can take a family of five, whilst another is a rather different wooden house perched on top of the dunes with 360 degree views.
Activities include diving, snorkelling, marine safari, body boarding, canoeing, walking, village visits, beach picnics and day trips to the towns of Inhambane and Maxixe.
Travessia Beach Lodge is a really pleasant option, personally hosted and well connected with the local communities. A simple barefoot experience which is great value for money for this part of the world.
Access is not easy. The nearest town is Inhambane, around two hours to the north, but flights in and out of here are notoriously unreliable. We usually connect via the town of Vilanculos to the north, which is directly connected by air with the Kruger area of South Africa. From there it is a road journey of two to three hours down to the lodge.
