Ulusaba Rock Lodge
is located in Sabi Sand West
in the Kruger Private Reserves
area in the Northeast
of South Africa
Dramatically perched on top of a granite kopje and with sweeping views out across the river and the surrounding bush, Ulusaba Rock Lodge is a stylishly presented facility with extensive public areas including a swimming pool, spa and gym. Guest accommodation is in four modest rooms, three suite rooms and one two bedroom suite. The lodge is owned by Richard Branson's Virgin empire and is very professionally and intimately hosted.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari, with wildlife in this Sabi Sand West area being excellent year round.
The main potential downsides are that the lodge is quite heavily built, the standard rooms are rather ordinary and the place is responsible for significant light pollution, it sticks out like a sore thumb at night. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
The presence in this Sabi Sand West area of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs, as well as heavy urbanisation immediately to the west, does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, but that is true of almost all of Kruger.SeasonsPrices
