is located in the Michamvi
area on the east coast of Zanzibar Island
off the Indian Ocean Coast
It is a high quality small beach lodge which offers a relatively exclusive experience in the traditional village of Pingwe. The lodge has cool little central areas, plus guest accommodation in a three bedroom house and two large villas. It looks out over a white-sand beach at the back of a stunning coral lagoon. The house comes with a full complement of fantastic staff and is known for its excellent food. There is a good range of activities available, as well as considerable cultural interaction and, unusually for Zanzibar, a small selection of bars and restaurants nearby.
The main potential downsides at Upendo Zanzibar are that the lodge is relatively pricey, guests are inherently exposed to village activity, the beach itself is not private and the lagoon is very tidal. The lodge is too remote for some excursions around the island and the local diving is not the strongest on Zanzibar.UpsidesActivitiesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
