is located in the Otjiwarongo
area in the Northcentral
region of Namibia
Set high on the southern slopes of the Waterberg Plateau, this national park restcamp is definitely a cut above most others.
The main reason for this is the wonderful restaurant building, which was formerly the suprisingly grand police station for the area back in colonial times. The campground is down at the front gate, whilst the 35 or so chalets are ranged along the top of the site, just below the characteristic red stone scarp of the plateau.
The main activity is walking up on the plateau itself. Gamedrives are also offered, but these are generally considered to be a lesser option.
Waterberg Restcamp is one of the few national park facilities which is of sufficient quality for us to be able to recommend and include in trips, although more often we would lean towards the nearby Waterberg Wilderness Lodge
or Waterberg Plateau Lodge
