... is located in the Panorama South area of the Northeast region in South Africa.

The vast majority of our guests self-driving to Kruger bypass this area by flying into either Nelspruit or Hoedspruit.

For those who do drive out west from Johannesburg, the main A4 highway initially traverses 250km of flat relatively uninteresting landscapes.

Only once one reaches the town of Waterval Boven does the route start to become more interesting as it enters the Mpumalanga Drakensburg mountains.

Where to stay ...

Although the main areas of interest lie another couple of hours further east, this is a pretty area in its own right and a small proportion of self-drivers do choose to break their journey here.

Kilmorna Manor ... is amongst the best of the accommodation in the area, a rather out-of-context English Tudor manor.

Heysbrook Lodge ... is another relatively upmarket option set back from the main N4 highway.

Old Joe's Kaia ... is a simple but homely option in the same area
