White House Farm

... is located in the Fish River Canyon area in the Southern region of Namibia.

Set on a 150 square kilometre farm 10km north of the town of Grunau, this impressive old farmhouse was originally built in 1912 and has been sensitively restored by the present owners. Most notable are the wide verandas and enormous period kitchen.

There are four authentic family bedrooms in the main house, which are best for guests wanting to soak up the atmosphere of the old place and enjoy the home-cooked meals. Additionally there is a studio out back and 3 more recently constructed chalets, which are perhaps best suited to guests wanting to self-cater.

Geologists should visit the rose quartz mine on the property. Walks and sundowner drives are also available.

White House Farm is perhaps the best of the lodge options in the Grunau area and worth seeking out if you fancy sliding back into the early part of the last century for a night or two.
