is a modest town situated some 20km north of the region capital of Nelspruit
in the Panorama South
area of the Northeast
region in South Africa
The town lies on the Lowveld, with gentle green hills climbing towards the Mpumulanga Drakensberg to the northwest. The area has been a centre of agricultural production since veterans of the Anglo-Boer war were settled here in the early twentieth century. Tropical fruits such as mangos and lychees are a speciality.
The vast majority of safari travellers passing through this area tend to base themselves further north in the town of Hazyview
, where there is a wider range of accommodation and greater access to the main attractions. Accommodation options in the area are therefore relatively limited ...Jatinga Lodge
... is a rather pleasant option which is conveniently positioned for late arrivals and early departures from Nelspruit Airport and notably sometimes used as an overnight when connecting between Victoria Falls and the Mozambique Coast.
