is located in the town of Jinja
in eastern Uganda
Beautifully situated on a forested private island in the Victoria Nile around 25km downstream of the town, the lodge is literally surrounded by rapids. Access is by boat from a landing stage on the west bank.
The lodge itself is a high quality affair, with pleasant public areas arranged around a decent pool. The twelve comfortable stone and thatch guest cottages are very comfortable.
Activities are handled by sister company Adrift, one of the leading river operators. Most visitors are here for the white-water rafting, which can vary from gentle family trips to hardcore adventures. It is also possible to go out on a jetboat and the original boat from the 1951 movie The African Queen.
Whitewaters Lodge is a genuinely high class operation which attracts very reliable guest reviews. The only regular grumble from guests is the considerable presence of day-trippers, who come in from Kampala for the rafting, especially at weekends.SeasonsPrices
