is the capital of Namibia
and an unusually very pleasant and relaxed city.
The commercial centre lies within in a broad basin of hills, with the residential suburbs extending west across the flats and eastwards into the surrounding foothills.
It is a relatively quiet, friendly, safe and organised city, with a good range of facilities and a sprinkling of interesting historical features. Once orientated, the compact nature of the town and the blissful absence of serious traffic makes it an easy and pleasant place to explore.
Most of our guests tend to minimise the time spend in Windhoek, with the majority of international flights arriving early and departing late enough to make it possible to avoid overnighting here. However we do find that a last night in town allows for a nice pause at the end of a trip, the chance to do some shopping, sightseeing and generally get ready to head home.SeasonsAccommodationTrips
